It began on Friday night with a thrilling town centre race and featured some of the country’s top riders. Local stars also battled it out on a circuit that started and finished on Stockton High Street.
The Stockton Sportive took centre stage on Saturday which saw riders take on ‘Tour de France’ style races ranging from 36 to 106 miles.
The Family Festival Day on Sunday brought things to a close with the Stockton Grand Prix taking top billing, part of the British Cycling HSBC UK Grand Prix Series. More than 100 riders lined up on Stockton Riverside as the race started in glorious sunshine. The 100-mile plus course took in local villages before coming back into town for six thrilling laps to the line.
While the elite riders were battling it out in the countryside, hundreds of spectators were kept entertained with a whole host of cycling related attractions, including the RideStockton event which allowed families to ride on the closed circuit at their leisure.
Brenton Jones from team JLT Condor made it a Stockton double with victory in both the Friday Town Centre Race and Sunday’s Stockton Grand Prix, holding off his nearest competitors in an exhilarating sprint finish and ensuring a stunning finale to the Stockton Cycling Festival.
